My mother flew in from Sendai, Japan to come see me compete at the pageant. We both ended up crying in front of the cameras as a result of the emotions of the moment and the thrill of our reunion. It had been four years since I had last seen her. Both she and the Japanese people have had such a hard time this past year. I was so happy that my success could bring some joy to both her and Japan.
